“All Around My Hat” came out in the Autumn of 1975 and went to number five in the singles chart. The album of the same name followed and was a huge success, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. The New Musical Express ran a front page headline “All Around Mike Batt” to herald a fly-on-the-wall feature written by Charles Shar Murray after a visit to air studios when we had been working. The piece was very positive and I came out of it as the guy who wasn’t at all a bad producer, despite being a Womble.
There followed a second album, ROCKET COTTAGE, which was successful, but not as big a hit as its ppredecessor. I very much enjoyed my times working on these two albums with the band”
