Colm Wilkinson is one of the finest dramatico actor singers in the world he was already deeply into his carrer path when he shot to greater fame as the first Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Like the Justin Hayward album and the Gary Wilmot album, we recorded this at Abbey Road Studio 1 using the 70 piece London Philharmonic Orchestra. Coupling 2 songs from each of our selected musicals nescessitated my writing a segue between each pair. The album opens with a rousing rendition of “Man Of La Mancha” which prefectly demonstrates Colm’s dramatic and vocal brilliance other stand-outs for me are his vocal performance on “Maria” from “West Side Story”, and “The Phantom Of The Opera”. For the latter I had to find a fresh way of arranging it, as i had arranged the original hit for Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman, apart from contributing to it as a writer.
