A Classical Tale Album Playlist

Apart from the classical - orientated pieces incorprated in his solo and other albums Mike has created several stand alone classical suites and pieces. Excerpts can be heard on the album “A Classical Tale”of note: “Watership Down: Symphonic Suite”, “Dublin Overture”, “Dreamstone Overtures 1-6” and the album “A Tribute To John McCormack” recorded live in concert with lyric tenor Finbar Wright and the national symphony orchestra of Ireland.

"His recording, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, of Holst: The Planets Suite" was recorded at Watford Town Hall with the Abbey Road mobile unit and was the first ever 20 bit digital recording of that work. . In 1987 he conducted a programme of Holst, Bizet and Brahms with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, prior to the concert performance of The Hunting Of The Snark. As Artist-In-Residence at the Melbourne Summer Music festival in 1990 he conducted the State Orchestra Of Victoria  in works by Rimsky-Korsakoff, Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Elgar and others. In live and broadcast concerts has conducted a variety of classical repertoire  including the BBC Concert Orchestra in a mixed programme including Saint-Saens "Danse Macabre" and Brahms: Hungarian Dances. In 2013 he was co-producer and conductor of "A Celebration Of Young People In The Performing Arts" at Buckingham Palace for The HM The Queen, which included Tchaikovsky: "Romeo And Juliet Fantasy Overture" and a section from Prokofiev "Romeo And Juliet" Ballet with the English National Ballet"
